After years of performing as MRMartin and frontman of the pop-rock band Rascal, Remco van der Schans is taking a new musical direction with his project Nash Vandrick. This project marks a fresh start and an evolution in his musical career, with passion, authenticity, and innovation at its core.
Remco’s musical journey began at an early age. At just five years old, he discovered his love for music, inspired by his older brothers who were active as musicians and producers. As a child, he played guitar, sang, and regularly took the stage. His talent and determination led him to England at the age of twenty, where he made a name for himself as MRMartin with energetic performances in the local live scene. His shows quickly became a staple at parties and events, laying the foundation for his career.
Back in the Netherlands, he founded the band Rascal in 2015, performing on countless stages and festivals. With a mix of original songs and familiar covers, the band captivated a wide audience. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Remco found time to reflect on his musical direction. A longing to stay true to his own sound and stories led to the birth of Nash Vandrick.
The move from MRMartin to Nash Vandrick is more than just a name change; it’s a complete transformation in style, identity, and sound. While both projects originate from Remco’s own creative work, Nash Vandrick marks a new phase where he reinvents himself completely. The rebranding includes not only a new artist name but also a full restyling in visuals, artist styling, and a fresh, contemporary musical direction.
Where MRMartin was known for energetic live performances and accessible pop-rock with party elements, Nash Vandrick focuses on a more versatile and layered sound. His musical style blends influences from pop, country, hip-hop, and rock, harmoniously mixing real instruments with synthetic sounds. The result is a unique and modern sound that is both raw and melodic, backed by personal lyrics and powerful vocals.
This transition is driven by the need to create music that is not only entertaining but also meaningful and lasting. With Nash Vandrick, Remco shows that he has grown as an artist and is willing to take risks to stay true to his authentic self.
